TQC Rolls Out 7 Testing, Sampling Instruments

TQC has rolled out a variety of new instruments and gauges for ensuring quality control in an industrial environment.

New Soluble Salt Testing Method

The TQC Bresle Kit is a soluble-salt testing method based on, and compliant with, ISO8502-6 and ISO8502-9. The new product and method upgrade the DSP (Direct Sampling) Method that the company developed last year. TQC calls the new version quicker and more reliable.

The new instrument and procedure allow the sample fluid used in the patch to wash the surface to be measured directly without any dilution, which speeds the process and eliminates the most error-sensitive part of the old procedure, the company says.

Dolly Drill for Adhesion Test

The TQC Dolly Drill is designed to remove excess glue and cut through the coating around dollies in order to prepare the dolly for the adhesion test. Fixed positioning is assured with the three strong magnets, the company says, allowing the drill to remove the coating around the dolly without putting any force on the dolly.

Dust Test Kit

Loose particles on blast-cleaned surfaces will reduce coating adhesion, leading to premature coating failure. To inspect the pre-treatment quality during protective coating jobs as for example described in IMO-PSPC MSC.215(82), TQC has developed the TQC Dust Test Kit.

The ergonomic test kit assesses the quantity and size of dust particles on blast-cleaned surfaces prior to painting following the ISO8502-3 standard.

TQC Dust Test Kit contains all required tools to perform the test, TQC says. A binder case secures the items when not in use.

PTK Test Kit

The PTK Test Kit has all of the necessary items to perform a full inspection of the pre-treatment phase of a protective coatings job. This stage is one of the most critical in the entire coating process and therefore requires thorough inspection and control. Parameters like cleanliness, roughness, dust, chlorides and climate have to be monitored and inspected. The PTK offers all necessary tools for this job and is fully adapted to the IMO-PSPC standard, the manufacturer says.

The PTK is available as a Basic or Full Kit. The Basic Kit contains a Bresle Test for surface and blast media measurements, a Dust Test kit and Telescopic inspection mirror. The Full Kit has many extra items, including a Surface Roughness Comparator,  DewCheck dewpoint gauge, and Coating Multitester.

DewCheck 4 Series 2

The new DewCheck 4 Series 2 Dewpoint Gauge is now standard supplied with a USB communication cable and the TQC Dewlog Analysis software, for monitoring of temperature and humidity.

The TQC Dewlog Analysis software offers user friendly reporting functions for standard production work, as well as advanced calculations for in-depth analysis of the climate parameters prior to coating, the company says. Reports are customizable.

Surface Profile and Coating Thickness Gauge

The new TQC Surface Profile and Coating Thickness gauge contains two tips that allow the gauge to be changed back and forth from a surface profile gauge to a coating thickness gauge. The gauge is supplied with a sharp tungsten carbide replaceable tip for surface profile measurement, a hardened round tip for coating thickness measurement, a glass plate for zero calibration, and a leather carry pouch that fits all items.

Plastic Wet Film Comb
The TQC Wet Film Comb, made of plastic, measures wet film thickness between 25 and 900µm. The Film Comb is designed as a disposable thickness gauge. It can be kept as a record of wet film thickness measurement for ISO or customer requirements.

One side of the comb measures the wet film thickness in µm (30 steps between 25 and 900µm); the other side measures in mills (30 steps between 1 and 35 mils).

One set contains 500 pieces.
