The SSPC Ontario Chapter will hold its 7th Annual Golf Tournament on Sept. 16, 2010, at the Willow Valley Golf Course. The SSPC Ontario Chapter will provide prizes for this year’s tournament.
The cost is $150 per person, which includes green fees, golf cart, lunch and dinner, and the driving range open. A dinner only ticket can be purchased for $55. The tournament is in scramble format and has a shot-gun start at 12:30 p.m.
The GL Stone Award will be announced during dinner. The GL Stone Award was created in memory of George Stone, owner of GL Stone, chair of the steering committee to form the Ontario Chapter, and the chair of the SSPC Ontario Chapter. The award is presented annually if suitable candidates meet the criteria. To be nominated, one must:
• demonstrate contribution to the furtherance of dissemination of information, creation of opportunities for an industry forum, and development of the SSPC Ontario Chapter in a way that was demonstrated by George Stone;
• contribute to the industry at large to promote the excellence capable of being provided by the industry to specifiers and owners for the control of corrosion using protective coatings; and
• demonstrate personal excellence and knowledge in assisting those in the industry, outside of his or her business directly. This would include providing assistance and encouragement to those entering the industry.
In the four years since its creation, the award has been presented every year. Nominations are being accepted until July 30, 2010.
