Cytec Introduces Solvent-Free Epoxy Dispersion

Cytec Industries Inc. (Woodland Park, N.J.) introduced BECKOPOX™ EP 2384w/57WA, described as a solvent-free, water-borne epoxy dispersion formulated for use in high-performance, water-borne, ambient-cure two-component epoxy monocoats and primers for metallic substrates.

The product, when used with BECKOPOX VEH 2188w/80WA water-borne amine hardener, is reported to facilitate the formulation of coatings with VOCs of less than 50 grams per liter that exceed 1,000 hours of salt-fog exposure without the use of anticorrosion pigments. The product yields coatings with rapid dry, a high degree of hardness, and early water resistance, the company says.

The product can be used in field-applied protective coatings and factory-applied coatings, said Dr. Leila Khatai, technical service & development leader for Cytec Liquid Coating Resins.
