Victor West, architectural manager, PPG Pittsburgh Paints, has earned the LEED-Green Associate accreditation from the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI), the credentialing affiliate of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), PPG announced.
James J. Bogdan, PPG manager, green building initiatives, construction market team, said the accreditation will strengthen West’s ability to assist design professionals in pursuing Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) or other green-building certifications for their projects.
“Victor has more than 35 years of experience in the paint industry,” Bogdan said. “This accreditation demonstrates his commitment not just to helping customers, but to promoting the principles and practices of green building through all his interactions with the building industry.”
West works with design professionals in Michigan, northwestern Ohio, and southeastern Wisconsin. In addition to providing paint expertise, he also helps customers specify environmentally progressive PPG architectural glass and coatings, the company said.
West currently is a member of the board of directors for the Detroit Chapter of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI). He also is an industry partner of the American Society of Interior Design (ASID) and industry member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). Prior to joining PPG in 2006, he worked in the coatings-manufacturing industry as a laboratory technician, sales representative, account manager, and architect manager.
Other PPG associates who have earned LEED professional credentials include Deron Patterson, sales development manager, PPG architectural glass, and fellow architect managers Mary Hosley and Bob Schrock.
