University Park Bidding Tank Job, with Alternates for Thermal Spray

University Park water tank

The City of University Park, TX, will accept sealed bids on July 8, 2010, for coatings application on an existing 2 MG composite tank. The project, which has an estimated value of $883,000, includes cleaning and recoating interior wet, interior dry, and exterior surfaces of the metal bowl, as well as cleaning the concrete pedestal, epoxy coating exposed rebar, and patching damaged concrete.

The interior wet surfaces will be abrasive blast-cleaned to a Near White finish (SSPC-SP 10) and lined with a zinc primer and high-solids epoxy finish. The interior dry surfaces will be abrasive blast-cleaned to a Commercial finish (SSPC-SP 6) and coated with a zinc-epoxy system. The exterior surfaces will be abrasive blast-cleaned (SSPC-SP 6) and coated with a zinc-polyurethane-fluoropolymer system. The contract includes alternates for thermal-spray metallizing interior surfaces and overcoating exterior surfaces. The contract requires containment of non-hazardous paint debris, ventilation, and as-needed dehumidification.
