Taiwan-based Double Bond Chemical Industries is preparing to launch its line of coatings additives in North American, the company announced.
The company established a U.S. subsidiary earlier this year, to supply the North American markets for coatings, inks and plastics. Recently, the subsidiary formally announced that it would “add the parent company's additives products to its business mix.”
“Double Bond Taiwan has an extensive line of additives, most of which are already being used by North American coatings and plastics companies,” said Joseph Leon, president of Double Bond Chemical Industries USA Inc. “We look forward to competing on value and pricing.”
Leon was a founding partner of Zeon Technologies Inc. and had been general manager of Bomar Specialties Co. since 2001.
U.S. sales of Double Bond Chemical’s additive products will be handled exclusively by Brenntag Specialties Inc. of South Plainfield, N.J.; Mike Leahey, director of new market development, will head that effort. In Canada, Montreal-based UNIPEX Group will be the exclusive distributor under the leadership of business manager Dave Saucier. Both companies will also stock Double Bond Chemical products.
Double Bond Chemical makes about 100 additive products that are used in the plastics and coatings industries. The North American line will focus on additives already sold by other companies in that market, although a product list probably will not be released for another month, a company spokesman said. The product mix is expected to be about the same in the U.S. and Canada.
Double Bond Chemicals’ additives product line includes antioxidants, heat stabilizers, light stabilizers, optical brighteners, and UV absorbers. The company’s Additives for Plastics and Coatings brochure is available on request.
Double Bond Chemical Industries Co. Ltd. is a global chemical producer based in Junghe City, Taiwan. The company operates five manufacturing sites, with a presence in 25 countries.
Key products are UV-cure raw materials and specialty additives for coatings and plastics. The U.S. UV-cure product line was introduced May 24-26 at the RadTech UV & EB Technology Exposition in Baltimore. The company’s major markets are currently Asia and Europe.
