Sansin Corp. (Strathroy, Ontario) says its 2-Coat DEC™ Formula wood stain offers deep-penetrating, lasting protection of wood decks in a water-borne formulation.
The product is described as an environmentally friendly stain designed to protect old or new cedar, pine, spruce, fir, pressure-treated lumber, and exotic hardwoods on decks. The penetrating formula delivers uniform tone and color and resistance to water and UV exposure, the company says. The stain is offered in a range of 79 colors.
The water-borne formulation contains modified natural oils, and is reported to deliver stain deep into the deck wood while not inhibiting evaporation. By allowing the wood to “breathe” more freely, the finish allows the wood to adjust naturally to moisture levels in the environment, a property that is important to the long-term stability and health of deck wood, said Sjoerd Bos, the company’s vice president.
The company says it focuses exclusively on the development of environmentally friendly water-borne interior and exterior wood products. The company’s Enviro Stain products are formulated with modified natural oils and resins and finely ground iron oxide pigments, and are offered in transparent and semitransparent versions.
