The Valspar Corp. has re-launched its PlastiKote brand of automotive paints and has tapped a former Trex Company executive to be the brand’s new category manager.
Lance S. Bunch has been named category manager of automotive aftermarkets and industrial distribution MRO for Valspar and the PlastiKote brand, said Michael J. Watson, global managing director-aerosol for Valspar.
The appointment was announced June 7, two weeks after Valspar unveiled PlastiKote’s line of new and reformulated automotive aerosol paints, coatings and touch-up products. The brand, which dates to 1923, also has a new logo, redesigned packaging and website, www.plastikote.com.
“PlastiKote has a long history of developing premium, solution-specific automotive paint and coating products that meet demanding or unique requirements, environments or surfaces,” the company said in a statement.
Bunch will create and implement PlastiKote’s overall marketing strategy and serve as its brand manager. He oversees channel management for the automotive aftermarkets and industrial distribution MRO, and conducts product strategy for both the PlastiKote brand and Valspar enamels.
“With the launch of the new PlastiKote, we needed a knowledgeable and creative person to help increase our brand recognition, and we’ve found those characteristics in Lance,” said Watson. “Lance brings a wide array of experience to Valspar that will help grow the PlastiKote brand.”
Prior to joining Valspar, Bunch held a variety of positions with Trex Company Inc. in Winchester, Va. His experience also includes positions at James Hardie Building Products and United States Gypsum. He has an MBA in international business from the Keller Graduate School of Management in Federal Way, Wash.
