Tramex Ltd. (Dublin, Ireland) announced the availability of the MRH moisture inspection kit, which incorporates the company’s non-invasive impedance test with a heavy-duty pin probe and a relative-humidity probe.
When testing different building materials, the user selects the appropriate scale and pushes the meter against the material; the results are shown on the display. The signal penetrates deep into the building material, allowing a read through tiles and other coverings.
When using the kit for non-invasive testing of wood, the specific gravity can be selected to give more accurate measurement for different wood species. The wood probe allows the user to take instant pin-meter measurements of moisture content by percentage. The kit also offers an optional slide-action hammer electrode for measuring up to a depth of 1.5 inches.
The kit includes a plug-in hygrometer that provides simultaneous readings for humidity in both %RH and grains/lb .or grams/kg, in addition to temperature and dew point, which are shown together on the display. This can be used to assess the immediate environmental conditions and, when used with the Infrared thermometer, to identify condensation problems throughout a building.
The humidity probe can also be used to measure equilibrium relative humidity in concrete, masonry, and other structural and building materials. It can be used to test to international standards on concrete, such as ASTM F2170 and F2420 and British Standards BS8201, BS8203 and BS5325.
