Arch Treatment Technology (Atlanta, Ga.) announced that its Wolmanized® Outdoor® wood has been listed as a Green Approved product by the NAHB Research Center, a subsidiary of the National Association of Home Builders.
The designation signifies that this brand of preserved wood complies with specific practices in the National Green Building Standard™ and can contribute points toward National Green Building Certification by the Research Center.
The National Green Building Standard is an ANSI-approved standard developed to promote third-party certified green building in residential structures. Points are awarded in six general categories: energy, water, resource efficiency, lot and site development, indoor air quality, and homeowner education.
Arch Treatment Technologies said the pre-approval of points applies to Wolmanized® Outdoor® wood that is protected with copper azole preservative, using either dissolved (CA-C) or dispersed (µCA-C) copper, and with the company’s carbon-based preservative (PTI). The Green Approved status ensures that this wood can garner points under the standard as a termite-resistant material. Depending on the specific structure, additional points are also possible, the company says.
