Bayer Introduces Acrylic Dispersions

Bayer MaterialScience LLC introduced the water-borne acrylic dispersion products Bayhydrol® AH XP 2741 and Bayhydrol® AH XP 2754.

The solvent-free AH XP 2741 dispersion was developed for the formulation of environmentally friendly, one-component coatings for indoor wood construction and furniture. Clearcoats formulated with the waterborne styrene-acrylate copolymer are characterized by high grain accentuation and good chemical resistance, the company says. The dispersion can be used to formulate primers, high-gloss, and semigloss coatings, and can be used in combination with polyurethane dispersions and in water-borne ultraviolet-cure formulations.

The AH XP 2754 dispersion can be used to formulate one-component clear and pigmented lacquers for single-layer coatings and topcoats. Formulations based on the technology are reported to offer a high degree of chemical resistance and hardness. Recommended applications include plastic coatings applications in consumer electronics and other markets.
