Datacolor® (Lawrenceville, N.J.) introduced the Datacolor Select Kit™, a color-management program for retail paint and home décor outlets that provides customers with a computer-aided color-matching system.
The system is described as a powerful tool for matching and measuring colors using state-of-the-art measurement and search-engine technology to identify perfect matches from thousands of colors.
The program offers the following system features:
- color measurement and fast colorimetric search and formula retrieval;
- customer formula storage and retrieval;
- manual formula storage and adjustment;
- matching of competitors' fan-deck colors;
- instant color-harmony advice;
- printing of labels and barcodes
- communication with commonly used automatic dispensers
A key feature is the program's precise color measurement capabilities, the company says. By comparing the sample to countless colors stored in an extensive database, the software can accurately determine which selection provides the closest match to the qualities of the original. Within each color comparison, the program provides important characteristics about samples, from the correct name of each color to the collection it comes from. After determining the color formula, the program can then calculate harmonizing color schemes or send the finished product directly to the paint dispenser.
The program is described as an integration of the color-measuring instrument Select™ and the Paint Select™ software, which is based on the Datacolor PAINT™.
