The Houston Coating Society announced plans for its 20th Annual Painters Competition on April 10, and is inviting three-person painting teams to compete for cash prizes at the event.
The competition is scheduled for 9 a.m., with check-in beginning at 7:30 a.m. and a safety meeting at 8 a.m. The event will take place at the Marco Facility, 701 East Blvd., Deer Park, Texas, located at the southeast corner of East Boulevard and Highway 225.
The Coating Society said it is seeking 10 three-person painting teams, each composed of foreman, craftsman, and helper, for the competition, with the first 10 teams entering to be accepted for the contest.
No entry fee is required, and paint, panels, and an air supply for paint application will be provided. Teams or sponsors are required to supply their own equipment. Prizes are $900 for the first-place team, $600 for second place, and $300 for third place. Sponsors of the winning teams will receive a NACE or SSPC certified course scholarship.
Other activities planned for the day include face painting, appearances by clowns, door prizes, and tailgate exhibits, with burgers and hot dogs to be served. SSPC and NACE is providing sponsorships and training programs for the competition.
