RPM International Inc. announced that its Rust-Oleum Corp. subsidiary has acquired Chemtec Chemicals BV, a manufacturer of industrial cleaners and specialty coatings based in The Netherlands. Terms were not disclosed.
Chemtec, with annual sales of approximately $6 million, is headquartered in Rotterdam. The company’s primary products are specialty cleaners used for a range of exterior surfaces, and it also offers specialty, anti-slip, and antigraffiti coatings. The products are predominantly sold directly to cleaning and painting contractors, with some distribution in paint stores. “Chemtec fits well within our growing stable of European businesses,” said Frank C. Sullivan, RPM chairman and CEO. “We expect to significantly enhance Chemtec product sales by leveraging the vast distribution channels of our Rust-Oleum, Mathys, Tor, and Watco operations in Europe, which will broaden Chemtec’s geographic reach.” RPM, based in Medina, OH, is the holding company for a group of subsidiaries that manufacture specialty coatings, sealants, building materials, and related services for the industrial and consumer markets. The company’s industrial products include roofing systems, sealants, corrosion-control coatings, floor coatings, and specialty chemicals. Major brands include Stonhard, Tremco, illbruck, Carboline, Day-Glo, Euco, Dryvit, Zinsser, Rust-Oleum, DAP, Varathane, and Testors.
