The National Guild of Professional Paperhangers will offer a series of one-day training workshops across North America for beginning and experienced paperhangers.
The regional Tech Shops, Workshops and Tech Tours will run from March to October and will take the place of NGPP’s annual convention this year. The organization is focusing the year on education and training.
“More manufacturers are recommending members of the Guild, because they know the Guild has their interests at heart,” NGPP said in announcing the program.
Some workshops will cover advanced techniques and new products; others will be for beginning installers. The programs are open to Guild members and non-members alike.
Some of the agendas are still being developed. The tentative schedule includes:
• March 20: “March Madness” in Springfield, Mass.
• April 17: Tech Shop in Media, Pa. (outside Philadelphia)
• July: Date and Northern California site TBD
• September: Date and Chicago-area site TBD
• Oct. 1-2: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Program TBD.
More information will be posted at www.ngpp.org as details become available.
In addition to the day-long workshops, the Guild is planning week-long “boot camp” training in residential, commercial and/or high-end specialty wallcovering over the summer in Media, Pa., outside Philadelphia. Classes will be taught by master craftsmen. Classes must have a minimum of seven students and a maximum of 12.
Anyone interested in the boot camp program should contact the Guild by May 15, in order to finalize arrangements.
The National Guild of Professional Paperhangers is the only non-profit trade organization dedicated to professionals whose main objective is to promote the wallcovering industry. More information is available by calling (800) 254-NGPP, emailing ngpp@ngpp.org, or visiting www.ngpp.org.
