DeFelsko To Sponsor SSPC-JPCL Webinar on Adhesion

DeFelsko Corp. will sponsor the SSPC-JPCL Education Series Webinar on “Adhesion Testing Methods and Equipment,” the first of 20 webinars in the series to be offered during 2010. The webinars provide continuing education for SSPC recertifications  as well as technology updates on important topics.

Participation in the webinars is free. Leading experts in protective coatings technology will present the webinars.

The adhesion testing webinar will explain and discuss the rationale for adhesion testing of coatings and will review the relevant ASTM standard test methods. Additionally, distinctions between shear and tensile adhesion will be explained. Participants will learn how to measure coatings adhesion by the tape method and the knife method; and they will learn the difference between fixed alignment (mechanical) and self-aligning (hydraulic and pneumatic) tensile adhesion testers.

Adhesion testing of coatings over both steel and concrete substrates will be covered. Participants will also learn how to determine the cause of breaks when pull-off exertion is applied, and whether the breaks are adhesive, cohesive, or attributable to the glue used in the test.
