W.R. Meadows Inc. introduced Air-Shield Joint Filler, part of the company’s Air-Shield line of products for air barriers. The product is a pre-mixed, cold-applied, single-component joint filler specifically designed to fill exterior sheathing joints in applications using the company’s water-based air-barrier products and “peel and stick” membrane.
The product is designed to contribute to the creation of a cohesive, seamless seal between joints in exterior sheathing. The appropriate air-barrier product can then be applied to create a positive, monolithic, permanent seal to protect the structure from moisture intrusion. The complete seal is a key to keeping the structure safe from the intrusion of damaging moisture, especially in joints, where even the slightest void can result in building-envelope failure. The products will not affect the water-vapor permeance of the company’s permeable air-barrier products.
The product is reported to possess a high degree of cohesive and adhesive strength, and is designed to fill gaps and voids larger than ¼ inch, the company says.
