October 19 is the deadline for registering for either of two SSPC coating courses scheduled for November 2-6: C1, Fundamentals of Protective Coatings, and C2, Managing Coatings Projects.
C1 will be held at Munters Corporation in Pasadena, TX. The course provides an overview for those who are new to the protective coatings industry. It is also an ideal refresher for reviewing the fundamentals of corrosion and the use of coatings as a protective mechanism against corrosion and deterioration.
C2 will take place at Greenman Pedersen, Inc. in Annapolis Junction, MD. C2 is designed to provide those who understand coating fundamentals with an overview of the principles of planning, awarding, and monitoring the quality of new construction or maintenance painting projects.
In addition, the PCS Protective Coatings Specialist Exam will be offered at Greenman Pedersen on November 7, the day after C2 ends. PCS Certification recognizes individuals with in-depth knowledge of the principles and practices of industrial coatings technology.
Currently, the Department of Defense is funding SSPC C1 and C2 training for DoD, Army, Navy, and Air Force personnel. Contact Jennifer Merck at merck@sspc.org for more information about this funding.
