Fast-Dry Primer for Concrete, Steel

The Sherwin-Williams Company introduced Envirolastic® LT Primer, described as a fast-drying, low-viscosity polyurea primer for steel and concrete that can be applied in temperatures as low as 0 F (-17 C).

The company says the product is well suited for low-temperature applications or in situations where a fast-dry/fast-recoat primer is required. At 77 F (25 C), surfaces can be recoated after one hour, and at 40 F (4.5 C), surfaces can be recoated after five hours, the company says.
 
When properly applied, the primer is reported to reduce the likelihood of pinholes or holidays in the coating film caused by outgassing from the concrete substrate. The product offers a long pot life, and can be applied by brush, roll, and airless spray, the company says. Recommended uses include primer coats for polyurea and polyurethane topcoats.
