Carlisle Construction Materials announced the launch of NVELOP™ Building Envelope Solutions, the result of a collaboration of the company’s Carlisle SynTec, Carlisle Coatings and Waterproofing Inc., and Insulfoam businesses. The technology is described as a six-sided air- and water-tight building-envelope system, accompanied by comprehensive specification and tie-in details.
The company says the three businesses worked to integrate compatible product lines to create a complete building-envelope shell that offers superior protection against severe weathering conditions while increasing energy efficiency. The building-envelope program offers a single-source warranty covering the roof, roof insulation, air and/or vapor barrier, window flashings, cavity-wall insulation, below-grade waterproofing, and below-grade insulation, the company says.
The company cites information from the U.S. Green Building Council concluding that commercial buildings account for more than 30% of all energy consumed in the U.S. and Canada; air leakage is cited as the leading cause of energy waste in commercial buildings. Also cited is a study conducted in 2005 by the National Institute of Standards and Technology which indicated that minimizing air leakage in a building envelope can result in energy savings as high as 37%.
