Sherwin-Williams has introduced two breathable, low-odor, waterborne polyurethane floor topcoats that contain less than 50 g/L volatile organic compounds.
GP 4408/4409 WB Polyurethane Gloss/Satin topcoats can be used over concrete, terrazzo or existing coatings in flooring projects where a durable gloss or satin finish is desired. Typical applications include light manufacturing, garages, auto service areas and hangars.
These coatings can also be tinted to unlimited custom colors. “Now our customers can color match these topcoats at their local Sherwin-Williams store,” said Brad Rossetto, Vice President Marketing, Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings. “And they’ll be pleased with the inherent hardness of these products’ chemistry – combined with the ease to apply of a water-based system.”
In 24-hour exposure tests, the aliphatic urethanes proved chemically resistant, showing no effect from a wide variety of liquids such as 10 percent bleach solution, 25 percent phosphoric acid solution and cleaners such as Saf-Kleen and Vesphene.
Other features include water cleanup, UV stability, and low odor over their long working time. Light foot traffic is acceptable in eight hours (4408) and six hours (4409).
