Scientific Certification Systems has certified Omnova Solutions' RECORE Recycled Wall Technology as containing a minimum 20 percent post-consumer recycled content.
SCS is a global leader in independent certification of environmental product claims. Recycled content is increasingly important to architects, designers, specifiers, facility managers and other users of OMNOVA's wallcovering products as they look for ways to reduce their environmental footprint. Products made with recycled content can help building developers and owners earn Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) credits when building or renovating interior environments.
Omnova has a track record in sustainability. In 2002, it became the first wallcovering manufacturer to earn certification for low VOC emissions. In 2007, the company introduced ECORE Advanced Wall Technology, a no-compromise, eco-friendly, non-PVC wallcovering platform. In 2008, RECORE was introduced, and all new designs in Omnova’s leading vinyl wallcovering brands--Bolta, Essex, Genon and Tower--are being produced using this exclusive environmentally friendly construction.
RECORE wallcoverings average 30 percent recycled content, including a minimum of 20 percent post-consumer recycled content. The recycling loop may be completed through Omnova’s Wallcovering Reclamation Program, which recovers fabric-backed vinyl wallcovering materials—regardless of the manufacturer—from renovation and reconstruction projects for recycling into new building materials. The wallcovering looks, performs and hangs like traditional vinyl wallcovering but boasts a reduced environmental impact.
