Nicholas J. Carino, a concrete-technology consultant based in Chagrin Falls, OH, has joined Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates Inc. (WJE Inc.) as a consultant specializing in concrete technology and nondestructive testing.
Carino has worked for many years as a research structural engineer at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). He has provided expert failure analyses for major construction failures, including the examination of fireproofing properties for the NIST investigation of the Sept.11, 2001, World Trade Center collapse.
A fellow of the American Concrete Institute and ASTM International, Carino is also a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the International Concrete Repair Institute. He has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and master’s and Ph.D. degrees in structural engineering from Cornell University.
WJE specializes in the investigation, analysis, testing, and design of repairs for historic and contemporary structures.
