Nordson Corporation (Westlake, OH), a manufacturer of equipment for applying coatings and other products, reported the results of the third quarter, ending July 31, for the 2009 fiscal year. The company generated sales of $206 million and a net income of $24 million. In 2008, sales were $288 million and net income was $32 million.
The industrial coatings and automotive segment saw sales of $24,677 in Q3, compared with $40,956 in Q3 of 2008. Year-to-date sales in the segment are $77,965, compared with $125,778 in 2008.
The advanced technology segment was down in Q3 at $69,058 in sales, compared with $94,555 in 2008. Year-to-date sales are at $175,572 and were $272,222 in 2008.
The adhesive dispensing segment had Q3 sales totaling $112,538, down from $152,851 in Q3 2008. Year-to-date sales are at $328,184, compared to $429,167 in 2008.
Overall, the company has year-to-date sales of $582 million and a net income of $49 million. This is compared to sales of $827 million and a net income of $87 million for the first nine months of fiscal year 2008.
The company expects fourth quarter sales to be in the range of $224 million to $235 million.
