The UK Corrosion Conference will be held at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, UK, on October 27–29, 2009, in conjunction with the Correx and Surface World Exhibition. The three-day event has two themes: “Protective Coatings for Steelwork” and “Cathodic Protection for Corrosion Control.”
The protective coatings theme will cover steel bridges, steel-framed buildings, and steel structures. There will be presentations by coatings suppliers and contractors. Day one will start with “Protecting Steel Bridges,” chaired by Barry Colford, Bridgemaster Forth Road Bridge, and will feature Chris Tracey, FETA, on “Maintaining the Forth Road Bridge,” which is currently undergoing major restoration work.
The cathodic protection theme will open with a lecture from the Institute’s President, Professor Paul Lambert. Papers will be presented on concrete bridge protection, protection of immersed structures, pipeline monitoring, pipeline AC mitigation, and the use of cathodic protection on offshore wind farm structures.
Attendees will be able to pick which presentations to attend, combining both themes if preferred.
