The EIFS Industry Members Association (EIMA) has named David A. Johnston as executive director of the national, non-profit, technical trade association, which serves manufacturers, suppliers, distributors and applicators involved in the Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems industry.
The appointment is effective July 1. Johnston will be responsible for directing all association activities, including coordinating the member-led Technical and Communications committees, and the new Sustainability Advocacy Committee.
“Dave will represent EIMA within national codes and standards development organizations and will work with model codes and standards organizations such as ICC, ASTM, ANSI, ASHRAE and others,” said EIMA president David Boivin. “This will ensure that any codes and standards being created or modified meet EIMA’s criteria of being reasonable, achievable and cost-effective.”
Johnston will be the primary liaison with Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Department of Energy in Phase III of EIMA’s ongoing project on wall design and performance. He also will oversee numerous other initiatives critical to further promoting EIFS thermal and moisture control benefits as a green, energy efficient building material.
Johnston’s last position was director of codes and standards in the Codes, Standards, and Regulatory Affairs Division for the Building Owners and Managers Association “Dave brings a long history of expertise in the technical, regulatory and standards development arenas relating to commercial construction at the national, state and local levels,” Boivin said.
