SSPC’s Protective Coating Inspector (PCI) Program will be held in the UAE and India in July and August. The class size for each offering is limited to 24 students.

SSPC's PCI program has been approved by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) as equivalent to NACE Coating Inspector Level 2 and FROSIO Inspector Level III. ABS is the world’s second largest commercial shipping classification society.

Here are details for these overseas courses.

• The program is scheduled for July 3–8 at Petroleum Institute Abu Dhabi UAE. The contact for registration is Insignia FZE—email: insignias@eim.ae; tel: Ms. Thulasi at +9714-8813067.

• A second UAE offering is scheduled for August 14–21 at IQC Dubai Airport Free Zone, Dubai UAE. The contact for registration is Insignia FZE—email: insignias@eim.ae; tel: Ms. Thulasi at +9714-8813067.

• The program will also be held in India July 20–26 at the Blastline Institute of Surface Preparation & Painting, located at L F Plaza, Pottakuzhi, Kaloor-Perandoor Road Elamakkara, P.O, Kochi, Kerala, India, Pin-682 026. The contact for registration is Insignia India—email: insigniafze@gmail.com; tel: Mr. Sujan Prasad at +91 9382336204.

The PCI program standards are based on and designed to meet the Body of Knowledge in ASTM D 3276 Standard Guide for Painting Inspectors (Metal Substrates). The objective of the course is to thoroughly train individuals in the proper methods of inspecting surface preparation and installing industrial and marine protective coatings and lining systems on an array of industrial structures and facilities.

The PCI course is intended for coatings project managers, quality managers, inspectors, contractor supervisory level personnel, coating specification writers, coatings or equipment suppliers, coating consultants, or technical service representatives involved in the steel protective coatings industry.

Program attendees receive a training certificate. Attendees who complete the course and pass the course exam with a score of 70% or better become eligible to receive a PCI Basic Inspector level card.
