International Paint LLC, an AkzoNobel company and provider of high-performance protective coatings, linings and fire protection products, has named Chris Tiernay as Vice President Protective Coatings, North America.
Tiernay will be responsible for growing the Protective Coatings business throughout the US, Canada, Mexico and Central America, which includes the International Paint Protective Coatings, Devoe High Performance Coatings, Enviroline, Ceilcote and Chartek brands.
“We are delighted to have Chris on our senior management team,” said Ian Walton, CEO of International Paint, Americas. “He not only brings a wealth of senior management expertise to the table, but a unique understanding of both the decorative and protective coatings businesses and their respective distribution channels.”
Tiernay is a 24-year veteran of the coatings industry, after getting his start as a painting contractor at the age of 17. He has extensive expertise in sales, sales management and general management roles in both Canada and the U.S., with broad experience in company-owned stores and independent dealer channels of distribution.
Prior to joining International Paint Protective Coatings, he was Vice President of Devoe High Performance Coatings and held other senior sales management roles at the former ICI Paints for 11 years.
In addition to his new responsibilities, Tiernay also serves as Executive Sponsor of a two-year Integration Project that was launched by International Paint Protective Coatings and Devoe High Performance Coatings earlier this year. This project will leverage the global coatings technology and specification strengths of International Paint Protective Coatings and the strong North American presence and distribution access of Devoe High Performance Coatings, to better serve protective coatings customers throughout North America.
