The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Wagner Spray Tech Corp., has announced a voluntary recall of certain Wagner Paint Sprayers. Consumers should stop using the recalled products immediately and return them for repair.
The recall affects about 35,000 sprayers, CPSC said in a statement. It said the on-off switch could be dislodged from the casing, resulting in exposure of electrical connections. This can pose an electrical shock hazard to the consumer.
There have been no reported incidents or injuries from the sprayers, which were manufactured in China and sold for about $99 at chain home centers and hardware stores nationwide from August 2007 through April 2009.
The recall involves the Wagner Control Spray Plus Model 0414248. This model number can be found on a white label located on the side of the motor housing. The following date codes are affected by this recall and can be found stamped on the bottom of the motor housing near the air hose connection:

0414248 |

Even models that appear to be safe and operating properly should be taken out of use immediately and returned to Wagner for a free repair, the company said. No receipt is necessary.
