BASF introduced Glacier™ Frost, described as a “whiter white” pigment developed with a new generation of titanium dioxide-coated synthetic mica flakes.
The pigment is designed to produce extraordinary luster and brilliance in a broad range of applications, including paint, coatings, plastics, and printing inks, the company says. With a bluish reflection color, the pigment is reported to create white to black shades without the yellowish appearance of traditional synthetic mica pearlescent pigments.
The company says synthetic mica is absolutely transparent and free of natural impurities such as iron oxides. As a result, it is reported to offers better luster and brightness than traditional pigments and outstanding sparkle effects in all shade areas.
