Joseph J. Peters, technical sales manager at Leneta Co., Mahwah, N.J., has received the ASTM International Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow. The award is ASTM’s highest honor for individual contributions to ASTM standards activities.
Peters received the award in recognition of his outstanding leadership of Committee D01 (Paint and Related Coatings, Materials and Applications) in developing standards for applied paint films, architectural coatings, water-repellant coatings, concrete and masonry treatments, and paint brushes, “and for his outstanding promotion efforts on behalf of the committee,” ASTM said in a statement.
An active member of Committee D01 for more than 30 years, Peters participates on several D01 subcommittees and has served as chair of the main committee since 2004.
Before assuming his current role at Leneta Co. in 1997, Peters held marketing and sales positions at BYK-Gardner USA, Cannon Instrument Co. and Elcometer. His work has focused on physical testing equipment for paints, inks and other materials, including the design of the equipment and the development of test procedures for its use.
