Sto Corp. introduced Sto BTS Xtra, a one-component, polymer-modified, cement-based dry powder material used as a lightweight adhesive, basecoat and leveler in StoTherm® insulated wall claddings such as StoTherm Classic NExT™ StoTherm® Lotusan® NExT, and StoQuik® Silver Cement Board Stucco claddings.

The basecoat also can be used as a lightweight leveler or skim coat on concrete or masonry wall surfaces, including Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) and Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs).

The lightweight, high-build basecoat uses lightweight aggregate designed to simplify installation on the wall and ease movement of  the material on the jobsite. The basecoat will build to ¼ inch to help level CMU walls, and builds to 1/8 inch for StoQuik Silver systems..

The company says the product is easier to carry and spread; provides complete cover of reinforcing mesh, eliminating the need to go back and re-skim walls; is one component, ready to use, and easily mixed with water on the job site; is polymer-modified for adhesion, increased durability, and freeze/thaw resistance; is formulated with a high polymer/cement ratio to mprove flexural strength and resist cracking; is characterized by a creamy smooth consistency for ease of troweling and increased job-site productivity; and is vapor permeable to resist blisters caused by trapped vapor. A low cement ratio yields less alkalinity and less free lime to reduce efflorescence.
