Abatron Inc. issued a DVD that demonstrates techniques for restoring wood that has been damaged by water and mold, or weathered severely due to exposure to sunlight and lack of protection from surface coatings or paint.
The DVD addresses wood-repair projects and the use of materials such as liquid epoxy compounds and pastes on windowsills, column bases, and clapboard siding. The liquid epoxy compound is reported to penetrate deteriorated wood and restore strength, and the epoxy paste fills voids and can be used to replace missing wood sections. The products are non-shrinking and designed for interior and exterior use, the company says. Recommended uses include repairs to windowsills and sash, columns, clapboard, logs, doors, thresholds, furniture, boats, and other wood elements and substrates.
