The second year of the International Children’s Painting Competition (ICPC), a partnership between Bayer Corporation and the United Nations Environment Programme’s Regional Office for North America (UNEP RONA) has officially launched. This year’s theme is “Climate Change—Our Challenge.”
Students ages 6 to 14 are invited to learn about climate change and express their knowledge through art. Paintings are expected to focus on the impact of global warming and actions that people can take.
Artwork must be submitted on letter or legal size paper and can be done in crayons, watercolors, colored pencils, oils, etc. The deadline for submission is January 15, 2009, and winners will be announced on Earth Day, April 22, 2009. First-place regional winners will be selected from the UNEP regions of Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, North America, and West Asia. The North American first-place winner will receive a trip to World Environment Day and the 2009 Tunza International Children’s Conference.
