Elevation Awards Nominations Due

Friday, May 26, 2017

Comment | More

The time has come to nominate an outstanding project for the inaugural D+D Elevation Awards: The deadline to have your best work evaluated by a panel of industry experts, and get the visibility and recognition your project deserves, is midnight tonight (May 26).

Why Participate?

The Elevation Awards were developed to honor architects, interior designers, painting contractors, decorative artisans, manufacturers and suppliers for outstanding commerical projects completed between January 1, 2016, and March 1, 2017.

“Celebrating the skills, products and quality workmanship of those involved in commercial coating projects is a natural extension of the editorial focus of the Durability + Design publications,” says Amy Woodall, editor of Durability + Design magazine and D+D In Depth. “The projects that make you proud also effectively demonstrate the technical expertise and artistic flair we cover in each issue.”

To that end, all nominees—and selected winners—will receive a significant amount of coverage in upcoming D+D publications, she adds.

With only hours left to submit your project for judging, make sure you have all the required materials in place to complete the nomination process before 11:59 p.m. ET on May 26.

Nominees in the aesthetic and technical categories will be featured in the D+D Summer 2017 Elevation Awards Preview issue. These projects will also have a profile on the D+D website, as part of the reader voting platform, and be promoted via D+D’s social media channels and daily newsletter.

In additional to being recognized at a ceremony at the CONSTRUCT conference this fall, the inaugural Elevation Award winners will be announced in D+D News and be profiled in the Fall 2017 issue of D+D and October issue of D+D In Depth.

“I encourage all D+D readers to submit the projects that exemplify your best work. Show the industry what your company can do,” Woodall says. “Not only will a nomination and editorial coverage help demonstrate the quality, expertise and talent of your products and project team, but it will also give you the opportunity differentiate yourself from your competitors.”

How to Enter

It just takes about 20 minutes to submit your project for the Elevation Awards. That time investment will pay off in big exposure for your company and your products and services.

  • Read the rules: Visit www.durabilityanddesign.com/elevation to review eligibility and category requirements and to see the qualifications of our panel of judges.
  • Create your account: Click on the Go to the Nomination Form button at the top right of the Elevation Awards home page to begin the nomination process.
  • Choose your category: Select the technical or aesthetic category (or categories) that best suits your project. There is no limit to the number of nominations you can make or categories you can enter, but a new nomination form and separate entry fee is required for each.
  • Tell us everything: Share the project particulars—everything from the basics such as name and location, contractor, start and end date; to specific details about processes, products and equipment used; substrate, challenges, highlights, end goals and more. Make sure the judges have enough information about the aesthetic and technical aspects of the project to aid in their analysis.
  • Show your work: Upload photos to support the nomination. Not only will this help the judges in the evaluation of your entry, but photos may be used in the summer issue of Durability + Design magazine, where we’ll publish profiles of the inaugural nominees of the Elevation Awards and their projects.
  • Complete the process: Review and confirm the information you’ve submitted, enter payment for the $395 entry fee and submit your nomination. You can save your entry at any point in the process and come back to add more detail at any time until the closing date.
  • Beat the Deadline: All the required materials must be uploaded and in place to complete the nomination process before 11:59 p.m. ET Friday (May 26).

What’s Next?

After the nomination period closes, entries will be reviewed by a panel of 12 industry experts representing a range of disciplines. Durability + Design readers will also be invited to cast a vote during the judging period this summer. The readers' cumulative vote will be considered equal to one additional judge's vote.

In addition to naming a winner in each of the nine categories, judges will also select an overall winner, chosen from among the individual category winners, to receive the Judges’ Choice Award. The Judges’ Choice Award recognizes an outstanding architecture project that best exemplifies the seamless combination of compelling aesthetics and high performance in the use of coatings and other substrate treatments.

Awardees will be notified in August, with an awards ceremony to follow at the CSI Annual Convention, CONSTRUCT, Sept. 13-16 in Providence, Rhode Island.
