SSPC Seeks Papers for 2018 Conference

Monday, March 13, 2017

Comment | More

SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings has issued a call for papers for its 2018 conference, to be held Jan. 15-18, 2018, in New Orleans.

Abstracts are due May 1 for consideration as a presenter at SSPC 2018 featuring Greencoat. The technical program, SSPC says, will involve thought-provoking discussions and solutions to current challenges faced by coatings professionals, including traditional surface preparation, application, coating failures, health and safety, and other coatings-related topics.

SSPC 2018 featuring Greencoat will take place Jan. 15-18 at the Ernst N. Morial Convention Center, in New Orleans.

SSPC is the only non-profit association that is focused on the protection and preservation of concrete, steel and other industrial and marine structures and surfaces through the use of high-performance protective, marine and industrial coatings.

Abstract Criteria

Presentations will be considered by SSPC’s Education Program Advisory Committee, based on four criteria:

  • Originality
  • Quality of the abstract (clearly defined outcomes, smooth flow)
  • Relevance/significance to the industry
  • Objectives

If an abstract is selected, the presenter must write a formal paper of five to 10 pages for inclusion in the conference proceedings. Papers should not give the appearance of a sales presentation.

After the May 1 abstract due date, the committee will evaluate submissions, and notifications of acceptance will be issued June 1. First drafts will be due Aug. 1, with final drafts due Oct. 1, and PowerPoint presentations due Nov. 1.

Conference Details

SSPC 2018 featuring Greencoat will take place Jan. 15-18 at the Ernst N. Morial Convention Center, in New Orleans. Presenters must register to attend; they will be given free registration for the day of their presentation, and a discount for full conference registration.
