RPM International (Medina, OH), parent corporation of a number of industrial and architectural paints and coatings companies, has acquired specialty chemical raw materials manufacturer Arnette Polymers LLC.

"Arnette's flexibility and ability to produce from pilot to large scale batches of both standard and niche materials has made it a key supplier for RPM subsidiaries over the last several years," said RPM chairman and CEO Frank C. Sullivan.

RPM announced earlier this month that it had acquired 80 percent of Richmond, MO-based Arnette, which specializes in resins, hardeners, curing agents and other intermediates for use in epoxy and polyurethane materials. Arnette, with end-users primarily in the protective coatings field, will be part of the RPM Performance Coatings Group.

According to the companies, Arnette has annual net sales of nearly $20 million, excluding the RPM subsidiaries the company already serves. RPM says the acquisition is expected to be accretive to earnings within one year.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

'Key Supplier'

"Arnette's flexibility and ability to produce from pilot to large scale batches of both standard and niche materials has made it a key supplier for RPM subsidiaries over the last several years," said RPM chairman and CEO Frank C. Sullivan. "With a good working relationship already in place, we intend to leverage this acquisition to further expand advantages in cost, supply and product development within the RPM supply chain."

Arnette will continue to be run by founders Jim and Micky Arnette and its current management team, RPM said.
