Cortec Corp. has unwrapped a new military-grade corrosion inhibitor in shrink-film form.

The company says its new non-toxic MilCorr VpCI Shrink Film helps protect infrastructure and other assets from hurricanes and "the most powerful elements of nature."

Cortec bills MilCorr VpCI Shrink Film as an alternative to wooden crating, aluminum foils and vacuum packaging for shipment.

The film is an alternative to conventional rust preventatives such as oils and desiccants and to wooden crating, aluminum foils, and vacuum packaging, according to Cortec, a global provider of corrosion-prevention technology.

Features and Characteristics

MilCorr VpCI Shrink Film is a heavy-duty film featuring Cortec multi-metal Vapor phase Corrosion Inhibitors that help protect the integrity of both the film and the item protected within, the company says.

According to Cortec, the inhibitors "vaporize and condense on all metal surfaces within the enclosed space, and diffuse to every area of the part; protecting its exterior as well as void spaces and recessed areas."

The film shrinks to protect recessed areas, voids and exteriors, Cortec says.

The company says the film "virtually eliminat[es] any rust claims" on domestic and overseas shipments of steel, iron, brass, copper, solder aluminum, silver and nickel.

The product conforms to military specification MIL-B-22019D, NACE Standards RP0487-2000, and TMO-2008, according to Cortec.
