If your idea of good clean summer fun includes a spin around the dirt in some monster equipment, New Jersey may have the perfect new theme park for you.

Diggerland USA is a construction-themed adventure park where visitors can operate heavy machinery in a family-friendly environment.

The West Berlin, NJ, location—the first in North America—will open June 14.

"Construction has been in my family for many years, so it was a natural fit for us to build a construction theme park," said park CEO Ilya Girlya.

Diggerland, which already has four locations in the United Kingdom, bills itself as "the most unique amusement experience in the world."

The 14-acre park will feature 23 attractions—mainly modified heavy construction equipment—with names like Backhoe Adventure, Operation Battle Truck, Excavator Express and Spin Dizzy.

Family Built

The owners of the neighboring waterpark, Sahara Sam's Oasis, decided to build the construction theme park and used the blueprints from the UK locations.

"The opportunity to take the concept of a construction theme park and make it our own was very exciting for us," Ilya Girlya, CEO of Diggerland USA and Sahara Sam's, said in a press release.

Diggerland USA will be the first construction theme park in North America. Diggerland already has four UK locations.

The Girlya family owns and operates SAMBE General Contracting, which oversaw the park's construction.

"Construction has been in my family for many years, so it was a natural fit for us to build a construction theme park," Girlya said.

Tickets will be sold in half-day increments ($26.95 at the gate) and full-day ($29.95 online and $34.95 at the gate); guests under 36 inches tall and over 65 years old are free.
