The San Diego, CA, school district is seeking contractors to bid on exterior painting at two schools: Scripps Ranch High School and Farb Middle School.

These projects will bid separately; the deadline is April 25.

The high school project is estimated at $400,000 to $500,000.

The middle school project is estimated at $100,000 to $200,000.

The coating contract at Scripps Ranch High School is estimated at up to $500,000.

The contractor will be responsible for wood treatment, including chemical preservatives such as water and fire-retardant coatings.

A softwood trim will be provided and coated with a transparent finish. An elastomeric joint sealant will be used to maintain water- and air-tight conditions on deteriorating joint substrates. The work will also include installation of fire-resistant Portland cement plaster with a stucco finish.

The high school's alumni include actor Adam Brody, Saturday Night Live's Kyle Mooney, and Chad Ruhwedel of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres.

Middle School Project

The bid for Farb Middle School includes repair, preparation and priming of all concrete and stucco surfaces. This includes all previously painted doors, poles, breezeways, overhangs and other components.

All ungalvanized ferrous-metal surfaces that have not been shop coated will be mechanically or solvent cleaned, treated, and primed using a ferrous-metal alkyd anticorrosive primer.

Farb MS

Farb Middle School is due for up to $200,000 in repairs, priming and coating.

All galvanized or non-ferrous metals will be prepped with a phosphoric acid solution and primed using a metal waterborne primer. Wood surfaces will be painted with an exterior latex wood primer.

The school opened in 1979 and boasts skateboarder Tony Hawk as its most famous alum.
