A new automated Vaqua slurry-blast system has been custom engineered to feature a two-axis gun motion.

Saratoga Springs, NY-based Guyson Corporation has announced a 72-inch by 72-inch wet blasting machine with a 1,500-pound capacity powered transfer cart.

The system is designed for wet-blast cleaning, descaling and pre-polish treatment of dies or molds, according to Guyson.

Gun Manipulator

The product also includes a gun manipulator that can move the blast nozzles vertically and horizontally in a repeatable programmed pattern, the company says. It has two banks of four guns bracketed in position on the X-axis arms of the gun mover so that both faces of the work piece can be blasted simultaneously.

Guyson's new wet blasting machine has a gun manipulator that can move horizontal and vertical blast nozzles in a programmed pattern.

According to the company, blast treatment can be concentrated on specific target surfaces or cover components up to 30 inches in diameter.

In this machine model, a single component is loaded and secure on a custom-designed rack built on a transfer cart that rolls on a V-rail track extension at the side of the vapor-blasting system. The power roll-out cart allows unrestricted access for loading by an overhead crane or hoist, according to Guyson.

The interior walls of the process chamber are lined with rubber curtains for abrasion resistance and noise abatement, and a swing-out side door with a view window permits access to the inside of the cabinet for inspection, adjustment and maintenance, according to Guyson.

Other features include:

  • A compact touch-screen interface with graphic displays;
  • A human-machine interface for preprogramming;
  • An optional manual touch-up station; and
  • An optional hand-held gun.

About the Company

Founded in 1975, Guyson is part of UK-based Guyson International, a family-owned company founded in 1938. Last Novermber, Guyson announced its acquisition of Automated Blasting Systems Inc., bringing extensive wet-blasting technology to Guyson's portfolio.
