ORLANDO—Outstanding technical articles on coatings topics from A (application) to Z (zinc) were honored Monday (Feb. 10) with JPCL Editors' Awards as SSPC 2014 opened in Orlando, FL.
"The winning articles, as well as all of those under consideration this year, are authored by some of the best and finest minds in the industry," said JPCL Editor-in-Chief Anita Socci, who presented the awards at SSPC's annual meeting and awards luncheon.
"JPCL is proud to be the forum to bring these fine articles to the industry."
All but one of the papers were previously published in JPCL; the other was a presentation made at SSPC 2013.
The 2014 JPCL honorees are as follows.
Preparing Surfaces at Wastewater Plants: An Overview of Substrates, Practices and Standards, by Vaughn O'Dea of Tnemec Co., describes how surface preparation for the use of high-performance protective linings contributes to the sustainability of wastewater infrastructure.
In this September 2012 article, O'Dea also discusses surface preparation for common substrates found within severe wastewater environments.

Philippe Le Calvé (left), Jean-Pierre Pautasso and Nathalie Le Bozec were honored for Part 3 of their series on UHP waterjetting.
These results were compared to conventional grit blast treated, similarly shop-primed panels.
JPCL, the voice of SSPC, will mark its 30th anniversary of publication this year with festivities Tuesday (Feb. 11) at Technology Publishing Co.'s Booth 423 at the conference.
The journal is beginning its third decade with its third editor-in-chief: Socci, former managing editor, succeeded longtime editor-in-chief Karen Kapsanis on Jan. 1.
Socci also accepted a special SSPC award presented to Kapsanis for her decades of service to the society's official publication.
