Direct-to-Metal Epoxy Covers in 1 Coat

Sherwin-Williams has introduced a direct-to-metal, high-solids epoxy that meets specifications for military applications.

MIL-PRF-22750G Type III, Grade A Seafoam Green High Solids Epoxy, is a two-component coating that can be used in applications that specify Grade A or Grade B finishes, including Army or Navy equipment that requires weather resistance or for interior surfaces.

According to Sherwin-Williams, MIL-PRF-22750G Type III can be applied directly to metal.

The epoxy is designed for one-coat application directly over zinc phosphate steel or treated aluminum and eliminates the need for a primer coat, Sherwin-Williams says. However, a primer can be applied if desired.

Corrosion Tests

According to the company, the coating is one of the first direct-to-metal high-solids epoxies to be approved by the Army Research Lab in Aberdeen, MD.

The product satisfies the lab's performance requirements to a minimum 1,000 hours of salt spray and 40 cycles of cyclic corrosion, Sherwin-Williams says.
