Specialty chemical maker Interplastic Corp. has developed a new line of “green” Cured-in-Place Pipe (CIPP) resins designed to “eliminate the environmental concerns in lining underground pipes.”

The new ECO series resins have no styrene, no volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and no Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs), reports St. Paul, MN-based Interplastic.

Interplastic's new series of CIPP resins have no styrene, no volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and no Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPs).

The products are engineered to repair partially or fully deteriorated underground pipes "with environmental safety in mind," the company said.

Interplastic says the resins offer fast wet out, trouble-free processing, high strength, and excellent flexural modulus properties. They meet ASTM F1216 requirements and reduce the likelihood of stress cracking and shrinkage with a lower exotherm in the enhanced version, the manufacturer reports.

3 Products

The new products are:

  • CORVE8290: Styrene free ECO series vinyl ester resin;
  • CORVE8295: Styrene free, modulus enhanced, ECO series vinyl ester; and
  • CORVE8287: Styrene free, ambient cure, ECO series vinyl ester resin for laterals and point repairs.

Interplastic Corp. is a provider of unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins, gel coats, colorants and putties for the composites and cast polymer industries. Interplastic is ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certified.
