Hempel has announced the global distribution of its Versiline coatings line, starting with the vinyl ester range.

Versiline Vinyl Ester coatings are designed to provide corrosion protection and temperature, chemical and abrasion resistance in aggressive industrial environments, according to Hempel.

Versiline was originally developed by Missouri-based Blome International, which Hempel acquired in 2012. Now, Hempel is making the Versiline brand available globally.

Vinyl Esters

Strengthened by an "epoxy backbone," the vinyl ester line is highly resistant to water penetration, delamination and humidity, according to Hempel.

Hempel Versiline

Hempel will release its Versiline coatings to the global market, starting with the vinyl ester range. The coatings were originally developed by Blome, which Hempel acquired in 2012.

Applications include chemical tanks, stack linings and absorbers. The vinyl ester range includes five coatings that can be combined in various systems, depending on application requirements.

"In some environments and applications, vinyl ester is the only technology that can do the job," says Oliver Rye, project manager in Hempel's Protective Segment.

"Versiline Vinyl Ester coatings have been used in the U.S. by many tank operators and oil and gas and power generation companies for 40 years."

The coatings "have a good track record" in reducing downtime and extending the service life of industrial equipment in harsh environments, Rye said.

Expanding Versiline

Hempel plans to add new coatings to the global Versiline range in the future, according to Dimitris Likouressis, Protective Business Director.

"We will soon be launching new solutions as part of the Versiline range for highly challenging applications where heavy-duty performance is critical for both structural integrity and production uptime," said Likouressis.
