"Comparing Equality Through Performance Data—Hocus, Pocus or Just Misunderstood" will highlight issues related to comparing products based solely on ASTM methods.

The webinar will cover how a misunderstanding or lack of knowledge about the ASTM standards can lead to exclusion of quality products and the possibility of alternatives for pass/fail criteria, such as SSPC standards. The function of marketing practices, as it relates to published results by manufacturers, will also be discussed.

Participants may register here free.

About the Presenter

The webinar is the third in a series presented by Kevin Morris, a corrosion specification specialist who directs the North American Water & Wastewater Market Segment for Sherwin-Williams. A NACE-Level III-certified coating inspector and an SSPC-certified concrete coatings inspector, Morris has been with Sherwin-Williams for 21 years.

"New PA 2: Procedure for Determining Conformance to Dry Coating" will provide an overview of SSPC-PA 2, Procedure for Determining Conformance to Dry Coating Thickness Requirements.

The widely specified industry standard, which was first published in the 1973 Volume 2 "Systems and Specifications," was revised and released to the industry in July 2012. The revised standard focuses on the frequency and acceptability of measurement acquisition, while leaving the gage usage procedures to the ASTM D7091 Standard Practice.

The webinar will also cover the content of multiple appendices that provide guidance for special applications, as well as describe the basic content of ASTM D7091.

The webinar will be presented by Bill Corbett, Professional Services Group Manager for KTA-Tator, Inc, where he has been employed for over 30 years. Corbett has conducted coatings training courses for a variety of industries in both the public and private sectors for 23 years.

The webinar will be sponsored by DeFelsko.

Registration, CEU Credits

This webinar is part of the JPCL/SSPC Webinar Education Series, which provides continuing education for SSPC recertifications and technology updates on important topics.

SSPC is an accredited training provider for the Florida Board of Professional Engineers (FBPE), and Professional Engineers in Florida may submit SSPC Webinar Continuing Education Units to the board. To do so, applicants must download the FBPE CEU form and pass the Webinar Exam, which costs $25.
