JPCL: Journal of Protective Coatings and Linings, has introduced a free digital edition focusing on the European protective and marine coatings market.

JPCL Europe, which debuted Monday (Sept. 16), is an online monthly publication for readers in the Europe, Middle East and North African (EMEA) region.

Like JPCL, now marking its 30th year, JPCL Europe is published by Pittsburgh, PA-based Technology Publishing Co., which also publishes PaintSquare News, paintsquare.com, Durability + Design Magazine, D+D News, and durabilityanddesign.com.

Articles will focus on good practice in selecting and using protective and marine coatings.

The U.S. edition of JPCL is the official journal of SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings.

Protective and Marine Expertise

Like its U.S. sister publication, JPCL Europe provides timely content about protective and marine coatings for contractors, engineers, specifiers, facility owners, and coating and equipment suppliers.

Stories will focus on coating work in the bridge and highway, marine, offshore, transmission pipeline, water and wastewater, pulp and paper, chemical and petrochemical, and railcar sectors.

Articles in the first issue include:

Coverage will focus on the major generic coating types and where they are best used. Included will be presentation of good technical practice in the disciplines of surface preparation, coating application, quality control, safety, environmental compliance, and program and project management.

JPCL Europe is a free publication optimized for viewing on tablets and laptops, and each issue features interactive content, such as videos, links to more information, room for reader comments, and personal customization features.

Sources and Expertise

Content for JPCL Europe is derived from European industry authorities and news sources under the direction of London-based Editor-in-Chief Brian Goldie (+44 20 8644 9977), a coatings industry veteran who also serves as the Technical Editor for JPCL. Some content will be contributed from JPCL.

Brian Goldie and Dan Mobbs

Editor-in-chief Brian Goldie (right) checks the first issue of JPCL Europe with editorial assistant Daniel Mobbs. The free digital journal serves the EMEA region.

"With your involvement, JPCL Europe will be the influential voice that unites a technical community of facility owners, contractors, specifiers and vendors, elevating the technology by building a common understanding about quality," Goldie writes in the first issue.

"We look forward to your participation—as a reader, a writer, a critic, a colleague."

JPCL Europe's publisher is Bernadette Landon (+1 412 697 0184), who has more than 15 years of experience in protective and marine coatings, including years of experience in the European market. Landon has a working proficiency in German and has studied Polish, French, and Russian.

All editorial inquiries should be directed to Goldie; all advertising inquiries, to Landon.
