Moral for Today

One day, a farmer's donkey fell into a well. The animal cried piteously, as the farmer considered what to do. Finally, the farmer decided that the animal was old and that the well needed to be covered; it wouldn’t be worth retrieving the donkey.

The farmer invited over all his neighbors, and they grabbed shovels and began tossing dirt into the well. The donkey cried horribly at first, but soon fell silent. Intrigued, the farmer peered into the well and was astonished at what he saw. As each shovel of dirt landed, the donkey shook the load from his back and took a step up on the new dirt. Shovel, shake, step up, over and over. Higher and higher he climbed until he was able to step over the edge of the well and happily trot off!

Soon, however, the donkey returned and bit the farmer who had tried to bury him. The bite became infected, and the farmer eventually died in agony from septic shock.

The moral of the story: When you do something wrong and try to cover your ass, it always comes back to bite you.
