Position Responsibilities:

The Senior Chemist position for the Protective & Marine Coatings Division is responsible for key areas including:
Providing timely and accurate solutions to multiple of moderate to difficult complex problems.
Leadership of the assessment, development, reformulation, quality, maintenance, and enhancement of products through planning, executing and analysis of experiments with clear and accurate results.
Development of solutions for complex technical problems (product/process) and demonstration of expert knowledge in the use of chemicals, raw materials, substrates and instruments.
Expertise in at least one broad area or a related specialized area.
Preserving technical resource base by issuing periodic reports on development projects and reformulations. Substantiate formula changes with documentation.
Providing technical support to marketing, sales and manufacturing to help provide an orderly flow of product and information to Sherwin-Williams customers.
Developing new/innovative coating products that will allow the P&M development laboratory to provide unique solutions to our customers.
Coaching lower technical level employee
Collaboration with technology team to develop technology platforms.
Understanding and use of the Protective and Marine Stage-Gate and Process.
Understanding and perform ISO 9001 and BMP manual
Use of MSDS and raw materials management system
Adherence to safety policies and laboratory documentation
Maintenance of equipment calibration with appropriate documentation

Providing timely response on field complaints investigations and resolutions.
Regularly review product formulas and product data pages to insure all technical information is correct
Responsible for following all ISO procedures and safety policies/practices.
Provide technical assistance as required and maintain awareness of current developments.
Show good business awareness and a broad perspective on problems and issues to develop products/processes that are novel and of commercial importance, and to leverage internal technology in support of maintaining and reducing cost.
