This is a position working the following days and hours: Monday thru Thursday 8:30pm -7:00am. Which leaves ongoing 3 day weekends.

Summary:

Supervises plant production and related activities including facilities, production, scheduling, manufacturing, training, and materials inventory. Directly supervises assigned shop personnel. Coaches, mentors and trains lead persons as assigned. Supports fabrication and painting operations as needed.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

  1. Five (5) years supervisory experience as demonstrated by the ability to develop and motivate a diverse team of employees in support of Company objectives.

  2. Knowledge of job shop management, lean manufacturing principles and quality initiatives.

  3. Knowledge of OSHA standards related to manufacturing operations.

  4. Demonstrated computer proficiency in business-related software (i.e., AutoCAD, MS Office Tools, Word, Excell and Power Point) with some exposure to an MRP/ERP system preferred.

  5. Knowledge of Machine Shop operations to include machining functions and programming.

  6. NACE or SSPC exposure and/or certifications very helpful.

  7. Professional degree in Business or equivalent work experience or training.

  5. Organized with a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.

    Essential Functions:

  1. Aggressively pursues safety initiatives in support of the Company’s vision of “zero accidents”; purses a safe working environment for all employees by enforcing all safety policies and procedures in accordance with OSHA guidelines; investigates all issues associated with safety; conducts periodic meetings and effectively strategizes to prevent and eliminate unsafe acts; ensures that all equipment is maintained properly and operated in a safe manner.

  2. Works closely with the Quality Assurance Department to ensure that QA policies, procedures, and directives are being met.

  3. Monitors work activity to ensure that work is completed on schedule and in appropriate priority sequence; monitors performance metrics to validate that production, inventory, and service objectives are being met.

  4. Routinely assists in the training of employees in required skills.

  5. Monitors WIP against established production schedules and job estimated labor & material costs; maintains workable floor plan layout plan designed to optimize work and material flows; takes corrective action as required to meet production schedules within budgeted costs.

  6. Facilitates the achievement of manufacturing objectives by:

    1. Knowledge of the Company’s product, engineering, and manufacturing capabilities as well as a comprehensive understanding of the customer base and requirements.
    2. Coordination with the Plant Manager, engineering, sales, purchasing, and project management to effectively resolve problems related to product design, materials, specifications, and/or manufacturing operations.

Other Functions:

  1. Participates in selection, training, motivating, and managing staff to include: coaching/counseling, recommending salary actions, performance appraisals, promotions, and terminations.

  2. Maintains the confidentiality of all information concerning the Company’s operational practices, marketing, engineering, pricing, sales strategies, customer/prospect lists, and financial performance.

  3. Ensures that daily, weekly, and monthly reporting as well as general correspondence is communicated accurately.

  4. Understands and complies with all Company policies, procedures and legal regulatory requirements.

Authority:

Within the scope of the essential functions of this position, the employee is expected to ensure that quality and safety standards are maintained and that assigned tasks are performed in an efficient and productive manner.

Environment:

Works in manufacturing conditions with occasional travel (less than 10%) required. Valid in-state driver’s license, driving record must meet acceptable Company standards and be maintained in order to operate a Company vehicle.

Safety Requirements:

Hazards: May be exposed to extremes of heat and cold as well as hazardous environments; occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and electrical equipment; possible exposure to fumes or airborne particles; possible exposure to internal liquids. Noise level is moderate and occasionally very loud. The employee may regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
